HISTORICAL SOCIETY PROGRAMS

All programs are held on the first Thursday of each month unless otherwise noted at 7:00 P.M. inside the Christian R. Harris Memorial Hall which is located next to the Heritage House at the corner of 8th and D Streets in San Bernardino. They are open to the public free of charge, so bring a friend!

In Mexico, the Southwest, and California. 

After brief notes about Christopher Columbus, Jim Wood will talk about 18 noted explorers and their routes out of Mexico between 1535 and 1827…including the first non-natives to enter San Bernardino County.

Penny U.  

Bob Fraley will talk about Nostalgia and History of the Penny University.  During the 1960’s and 70’s the “Penny U” or just plain “Penny”, as the popular music hall was affectionately known as was considered by many folk/bluegrass music lovers to be nearly as important to the San Bernardino area as the Grand Ole Opry is to Nashville.
