History of the Mt. Vernon Bridge.

Jeff Staggs will explain how the original Mt. Vernon Bridge, which was constructed in 1934 served as a major artery for 86 years, linking residents, students, businesses, and visitors across one of the busiest rail yards in the region as well as becoming a vital connection between communities on the city’s west side.
Deemed structurally deficient, the bridge was closed to the public for safety reasons in 2020.  But, after nearly five years of closure, San Bernardino’s historic Mt. Vernon Avenue Bridge reopened to traffic on Aug. 23, 2025.
The program (barring any unforeseen issues) will be available to view on Z00M.

History of the Cucamonga Service Station and Route 66 Museum.

David Dunlap will discuss the Cucamonga Service Station and Route 66 Museum.  Built in 1915, this historic building was obtained by Route 66 Inland Empire California (IECA), a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and legacy of the iconic highway.
The station is one of the few remaining structures displaying the original roadside architectural design from that era in the Inland Empire.
